Proton’s 1-Tank Adventure, for the Central Region, ended successfully and the best fuel consumption achievements made by those 18 cars were released by Proton. All 18 cars traveled at least 640 km without refuelling.
Participants include media, celebrities, key opinion leaders, and the public. Each of them drove either a Saga 1.3 CVT, Persona 1.6 CVT or Iriz 1.3 CVT from Proton Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam to Ipoh and back to Setia Gemilang Auto, Shah Alam using one tank of fuel without any restriction on their driving style. Depending on traffic and road conditions, their speeds averaged 80 to 100 km/h but dropped to 60 km/h on secondary roads. To capture real-time fuel consumption, participants are encouraged to drive freely with the air-conditioning, without removing any safety items ( like the spare tire).
Participants also stopped over at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) outside Kuala Lumpur for a Dynamic Driving Experience. This gave them a first-hand experience of the superior ride and handling of the Proton models as well as Active Safety features such as the Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, and ABS.
The best achievements were from the Public category were led by a Saga 1.3 CVT which was able to go as far as 28 km on each litre of fuel. The average consumption for the Saga group was 22.2 km/litre. Next was the Persona 1.6 CVT which went 25 km per litre, while the average for the Persona group was 19.6 km/ liter. The Iriz group averaged 18 km/litre with the best among them (an Iriz 1.3 CVT) going 21.1 km/litre. The results were compiled and verified by scrutineers from the Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF).
