The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that Sales and Services Tax (SST) will return in September with the rate being set at 10% for sales and 6% for services.
As implemented prior to the introduction of 6% GST (Goods and Services Tax), the sales tax will be imposed on the purchase of goods while the service tax will be imposed on commercial services.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the SST bill is expected to be passed in August during the current parliamentary seating and would be implemented in September.
