Japan’s new emperor, Emperor Naruhito, who came into his role earlier this year, has yet to undergo an official coronation ceremony. That’s only happening on the 22nd of October of this year. And just for the ceremony, a very special, one-off CONVERTIBLE 3rd-gen Toyota Century will be made.

They call it the ‘Royal Parade Car’ and it will chauffeur the Japanese emperor for 30 minutes from the Imperial palace to Akasaka Palace.

This is the royal family’s first Royal Parade Car in 3 decades. The last was a Rolls-Royce Corniche III.

Beyond its one use in October, the Royal Parade Car will also be displayed in palaces in Tokyo and Kyoto, and may also serve during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
