These specifications and images just got shared with us via a couple of readers and it seems that someone has taken the trouble to compare side by side the soon to arrive Proton X50 against the current segment best seller, the Honda HR-V. The persons or person who produced these are definitely getting first hand information from Proton (Geely) and this is a great way to get near future Malaysian Honda HR-V to hold on their booking and wait for the Proton X50 to be launched. Good marketing tactic and great viral marketing hype.
About the Proton X50 (Geely Bin Yue)
The Proton X50 will be based completely on the latest Geely crossover, the Bin Yue. Designed in Shanghai by a young and global design team, the Bin Yue’s design is based on Geely’s latest “Racing through Time” aesthetics. The team is lead by Jamie Liam Barret – Exterior Designer. Sharp body curve, capturing the direction of the wind, help every adventure. Young fashion sense, confidence and speed of movement. Design concept based on the “Times of Racing Aesthetics”.
The Bin Yue (Proton X50) sits on Geely’s new BMA architecture, measuring 4330×1800×1609mm, with a wheelbase of 2600mm. Geely engineers claims an impressive 68.7% wheelbase utilisation rate for the cabin, which should make for a compact, yet spacious proposition.
The drivetrain used is a 1.5L direct injection turbo petrol engine, co-developed with Volvo, which is good for 130kW and 255Nm. Geely claims a 0-100km/h time in 7.9 seconds which is not too bad for a compact crossover. A 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is paired with the 1.5L turbo, which work together to deliver a combined city/highway fuel consumption rating of just 6.1L per 100km.
About the Honda HR-V
Size-wise, the HR-V measures 4,294 mm in length, 1,772 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. The wide viewing angle is secured through optimization of the width and angle of the front pillars in order to provide good visibility for the driver.
Under the hood, the HR-V features a 1.8L i-VTEC SOHC engine built on a new Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology that enhances both driving performance and fuel economy. The new compact and lightweight CVT features high-efficiency electric oil pump and high strength belt, which improves fuel economy and ensures smooth rapid acceleration.
The final decision is still yours and we are just sharing this great information for your absorption.
